About SparkBench

SparkBench is written from eighteen years in the UK electrical trade — industrial installation, controls and maintenance work in food production, and the contracts desk where the quotes and the test certificates land. The gear recommended here is the gear that survives being thrown in a van, not the gear with the biggest marketing budget.

Three rules govern every page:

• No sponsored rankings. Nobody pays to appear, move up, or stay in a guide.
• Verdicts, not lists. Every guide tells you what we'd actually buy for a given job and budget — including when the cheap option is the right one.
• Regs stated carefully. Where BS 7671 or HSE guidance is referenced, it is stated conservatively. Always confirm against the current edition and your own competence — this site is information, not design advice.
