A magnetic digital angle gauge (level box) that clamps itself to anything steel and reads the angle to one decimal place. Zero it on the floor, stick it on the work, read the difference.

Why we picked it: cable tray and ladder runs, conduit sets, containment falls across plant rooms — trade work is full of "what angle is that actually" moments where a spirit level answers a different question. Zeroing against a reference face is the trick that makes offsets repeatable.

Honest limits: it's a workshop-grade instrument: a decimal place of display isn't a calibration certificate. Batteries are the button cells that die at Christmas — keep spares in the case. The magnet only helps on steel; on tray it's superb, on plastic conduit you're holding it.
